About the Comic

Arcane Quarry is the pet project of Mew, (who formerly was referred to as Mewzii Toraneko,) resident cartoonist and webmistress. It was officially started in the summer of 2005, but Mew had been plotting it for over a year. It more or less centres around Mewzii, Westin and Sylvren’s unlikely adventures. I will post more of a plot summary once the story gets underway.

The name Arcane Quarry was chosen because Arcane means mysterious or known to little, and Quarry means animals to be hunted more or less (in this case, our main cast). So it’s the animals to be hunted mysteriously… or the mysterious animals to be hunted… or the animals that are mysteriously hunted… well you get the picture.

The Artist

That would be me! My name is Allison, but my alias is Mew, and the character Mewzii in this comic is/was loosely based on me… just to clear that up. Most people call me Mew as a nickname. Anyway, I’d been pondering doing a webcomic for quite some time and I finally mustered up the courage to go ahead with it and finally start it in the summer of 2005.

What to say about myself… hmm…. well my primary tools are photoshop CS2 and a mechanical pencil, I sketch my comics in my sketchbook and then scan them in, then I put in the dialogue before doing anything else. Then I flat colour and cellshade and then I do the backgrounds! Tadaa! Comic! The average comic takes me at least five hours to complete, usually closer to seven.
